Today was our first official day on the Game Art course - 9 till 5, in the computer labs, trying to work out how to use the 3D modelling program I've never touched before.
In the morning we were shown the basics (which themselves were hard enough to keep up with). We then followed a tutorial on how to create a basic low-poly church model. Instead of playing around with it at the end (trying to add windows and embellisments etc.) I decided to make it over again to try and get the hang of the tools and different stages.
That's my 3rd attempt where I refused to look at the tutorial and did the stages from memory.
In the afternoon we were set the challenge of creating a dalek. Other than being shown how to import a reference image into the programme, we weren't given any further direction and had to work out for ourselves how to create it. Everyone had their different ideas and used different methods to create the basic form.

I think it looks better with a teapot for a head anyway. |
That's about as far as I've gotten with that - I'm at a lost of what to do next! We have a week to complete it which means I'll probably be living in the labs over the next couple of days.. Should be interesting.
